Wandering Scotland

Before lockdown we took weekly trips to explore different parts of Scotland as a family. We would spend time picking where we wanted to go and making our plans. Looking back we managed to go to so many picturesque parts of Scotland, I wanted to share my favourites. We are currently making a list of where we want to go when things are back to normal and know a lot of others are doing the same, maybe this will help if you are looking to explore some of Scotland.

A short drive from Aberdeen this gorgeous castle is set back in the hillside. This is definitely my favourite spot in Scotland that we have been to so far. I mean for one it's pink, where else can you find a pink castle? Walking around the grounds you feel like you are in a fairytale so it's not surprising that Walt Disney took inspiration from this for Cinderella's castle.

We actually came across this on our way to Blair Atholl, Highland Perthshire, saw it sign posted and thought why not check it out. I am so glad we did! A long winding road up the Tay Forrest Park but look at that view! Overlooking Loch Tummel and the snowy

Schiehallion Mountaintop. Perfect spot for a quick photo with bump and a peaceful sit-down to take in the view.

A ruined fortress on a cliff top, don't think I've ever seen such an impressive spot for a castle, it looks like something from a movie. In fact it has featured in some movies, it was even used as inspiration for 'Brave'. We didn't go right out, with a pram I don't think it would have been a good idea. We sat on a little bench for a snack watching the birds soar around which Oscar loved. If you do visit you need to stop for a wander in Stonehaven. It has a cute harbour and a nice walk along beside the sea. Top tip, award winning The Bay Fish and Chips should be included in your trip.

I love this place for a drive. Both me and Gregor are from the Scottish Borders so this was always a place on our doorstep. Occasionally when we are down visiting family we like to go a drive along to the Talla Resevouir. So I wouldn't suggest it for a day out but if you are driving near the Scottish Borders and fancy a nice drive, check it out!

Walking along the little cobbled streets here you feel like you are back in time. A popular place for the tv series 'Outlander' which we love! The buildings really add to the feel of this village, the white houses with the red tilled roofs. You will find the palace catching your eye, it's mustard colour and orange roof will draw you in. Culross is actually Scotland's most complete example of a town of the 17th and 18th century.

Hopefully we will continue our Scottish adventures soon.
